Here we will highlight the best Caustic skins that Respawn has released in Apex Legends so far until 2023.
Respawn Entertainment, the developers of the popular Titanfall franchise, entered the highly competitive battle royale genre with Apex Legends, which is set in the same universe as the Titanfall games.
Apex Legends was launched back in 2019, and following its release, it quickly cemented itself as the best BR shooter at that time, mainly due to its diverse roster of Legends, all featuring unique abilities.
Among all the first-released Legends, Caustic stood out from the crowd. While most Legends had abilities that were meant to push toward your enemies, Caustic’s whole kit was centered around his toxic Nox gas to bunker down an area.
Respawn opted to market Apex Legends as a free-to-play game with in-game microtransactions that are restricted to cosmetic items only. This meant there were no barriers to entry while playing this FPS game, but players could still purchase skins to customize their play sessions.
Aside from the four default Legendary character skins, Caustic has amassed quite a varied collection of skins from different limited-time events as well as recolors of those skins. Here we’ll try to bring more attention to some of the better-looking Caustic skins that Respawn has released so far.

Best Caustic Skins in Apex Legends (A Complete Tier List)
Here we’ll rank all the legendary Caustic skins that Respawn has released so far and put them into three distinct categories, such as S-Tier, A-Tier, and lastly, B-Tier. By our rating system, S-Tier skins are basically the cream of the crop when it comes to Caustic skins in the game. Meaning they are the rarest and most highly sought-after cosmetic items in the game.
And they are closely followed by A-Tier skins, which are also pretty good, but they all lack the X factor that a true S-tier skin possesses. Lastly, we have the B-Tier skins. In short, they are just average in terms of their looks and popularity within the Apex community.
In general, we considered rarity and cool-looking colorways while ranking these Caustic skins. And as with any other tier list, this one is extremely subjective. This list is mainly made to guide new and old players who are looking for some of the best-looking legendary skins for Caustic.
Tier | Skins |
---|---|
Mythic Tier | Apex Contagion |
Best(S-Tier) | The Last laugh, Claustic, Killing Joke, Silverback, Prince of Darkness |
Good(A-Tier) | Necrosis, Deputy of Death, Bloodthirsty, The Trophy Hunter, Third Emperor, Blackheart, Gasbuster |
Average(B-Tier) | Sixth Sense, Divine Right, Philosopher’s Stone, Dark Cloud, Waste Management, Sweet Dreams, Mad King, Inmate Nox |
Top 10 Best Caustic Skins in Apex Legends
As we mentioned before, Caustic received quite a lot of unique skins over the years. From scary-looking clowns to the holiday-inspired Santa Clause, Caustic has it all. Now, we’ll showcase ten of the best Caustic skins in descending order.
10. Third Emperor
Third Emperor is one of the base legendary skins that every legend usually gets in the game. It was added a bit later than the other four basic legendary skin. And it features a dark purple theme. This skin will definitely remind players of Scorpio or Sub-zero from the Mortal Combat video games franchise.
9. The Trophy Hunter
The Trophy Hunter is a recolor of the original Blackheart Caustic skin. This one features a very contrasty-looking black and white colorway that made it really stand out from the other skins. Players who love minimalistic skins will most likely prefer this one over all the other flashy-looking skins for Caustic.
8. Bloodthirsty
The Bloodthirsty Caustic skin is a recolor of the Sixth Sense skin. It features a unique red and light green recolor that made it stand out from other legendary skin recolors for Caustic. And as a result, it became really sought after by the Apex community.
7. Deputy of Death
The Deputy of Death was the first cowboy-inspired Cautic skin in the game and it was released alongside the Chaos Theory collection event. The gold and red colorway with that cowboy hat really made this skin stand out from the crowd.
6. Necrosis
The Necrosis Caustic skin was released alongside the System Override collection event in Apex Legends. Respawn clearly took inspiration from Darkseid who is one of the main antagonists in the DC comic book universe to make this skin. Also, the green color scheme looks really unique.
5. Prince of Darkness
The Prince of Darkness was launched back in season 2 of Apex Legends as a battle pass exclusive skin. And soon after its release, it became quite a hit among the Apex player vase. The gold and red colorway with crazy-looking armor also proved to be a perfect combination for Caustic skin.
4. Silverback
The Silverback gorilla-inspired skin was quite special to the competitive Apex Legends scene as the money from selling these skins would go on to fund the prize pool for the ALGS Championship tournament.
3. Killing Joke
In the Aftermarket collection event, Respawn released this serial killer-inspired skin for Caustic called “Killing Joke”. It features Caustic in a trenchcoat of some sort while wearing a Joker-themed mask.
2. Claustic
The Santa Clause-inspired holiday-themed Caustic skin was first released back in 2019 with the Holo-Day Bash event. As the name implies, it featured red and white-colored skin modeled after the Santa Clause costume.
1. The Last Laugh
The Last Laugh Caustic skin was first released back in 2019 with the now fan-favorite Fight or Fright collection event. As it was a holiday-themed spooky event, the cosmetic team at Respawn went all out and gave Caustic a truly terrifying clown makeover. Later down the line, Respawn even released a dark recolor of this fan-favorite skin called “Sweet Dreams”.
Mythic Tier – Apex Contagion
Caustic got his Prestige skin as part of the Season 16 Veiled Collection Event. Respawn did an excellent job with Apex Contagion skin, that perfectly matches Caustic’s personality. The name of the skin itself gives a decent impression of how the skin looks.
Apex Contagion’s attention to detail, from Caustic’s mask to his special boot, demonstrates why this might be the best Mythic skin in the game. The Apex Legends community also shares a similar opinion.
Will Past Event-related Caustic Skins Ever Return?
Unfortunately, Caustic skins from previous battle passes will not be available in the marketplace again because they were an exclusive reward for that season. Other recolors and event skins, on the other hand, may return as a recolor through new events and special stores.
