Riot Forge has shared an in-depth look at their upcoming title, The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story.

Riot Forge is a publishing label at Riot Games that aims to make narrative-driven games based on the League of Legends. Till now, they have released two different games, Ruined King and Hextech Mayhem.

Earlier this year, Riot revealed 3 more spin-off games based on the League of Legends universe. And one of them is The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story.

The Mageseeker will be a 2d action RPG game. However, it looks like the popular roguelike game Hades.

Digital Suns, the creator behind Moonlighter, are developing this game. Moonlighter is a 2d action RPG game with roguelike mechanics. So we can expect The Mageseeker to be similar to Moonlighter.

In The Mageseeker, the player will take control of Sylas, a fan-favorite champion from League. Moreover, the game will take place in Demacia. In Damacia, mages are unjustifiably oppressed. And since Sylas is a mage, he was also captured and imprisoned by the mageseekers. Mageseekers are an organization in Damacia that hunt down mages and imprison them. In rare instances, they also recruit mages to hunt down other mages.

The mageseekers imprisoned Sylas for 15 years. And now he has broken free from his captivity. And now it’s up to him to liberate Damacia from this tyranny.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story

Story

The story takes place in the region of Damacia. In this place, mages are oppressed due to conflicts that happened years ago. In this region, there is an organization called the mageseekers, who hunt down mages and imprison them. In rare cases, they also recruit mages to hunt down other mages.

Our protagonist Sylas was born with the ability to sense magic. Because of it, he was recruited by the mageseekers to hunt down his fellow mages and realized that mages are extremely common in Damacia.

One day he took pity on a captured mage. In a desperate attempt to save her, he discovers he can channel other people’s magic by himself. Since his power was too much for him to control, he was imprisoned by the mageseekers for 15 years.

During his last months in prison, Sylas meets Lux Crownguard, a noble family member in Damacia. Moreover, she is a mage. Sylas befriends her and later uses her power to escape prison.

After he escapes the prison, he tries to kill the king of Damacia, Jarvan the third. While he was on his way to the palace, he met Garen, Lux’s brother. To his surprise, Garen told him that the king had been killed. However, Sylas did not kill the king, but most of the mageseekers and soldiers blamed him.

sylas garen

During that time, Garen started fighting Sylas. And at that moment, a rogue mageseeker helped Sylas escape the fight. That rogue mageseeker is Killan, Sylas’ teacher. After a conversation, Killan helps Sylas and other mages escape the city.

In this story, we will see Sylas grow, meet other mages, and try to cooperate. For now, that’s all we know about the story.

Confirmed Champion Appearances

Here is a list of all the champions who are confirmed going to make an appearance in The Mageseekers: A League of Legends Story.

  • Sylas
  • Lux
  • Garen
  • Morgana
  • Jarvan IV
  • Shyvanna

Gameplay

Just like any 2d action game, Sylas can move in all directions. Moreover, he also has a dash that does not have a cooldown, so it’s easily spam-able.

Like in League of Legends, Sylas can copy other people’s magical abilities. However, unlike in League, his cooldown in The Mageseekers is significantly low. He can only store one ability, but later down the line, he gets more buffs to enhance his abilities.

Sylas can also use his chain hooks to get closer to his enemies. Moreover, he can also use his chain to grapple with certain obstacles.

As for healing, the primary way to heal in The Mageseekers is by using health potions. However, when Sylas steals enemy abilities, he also gains a small amount of health regeneration.

Elemental Strengths and Weakness

mageseekers elemental strengths and weakness

In this game, each magical ability has its attribute, like ice, fire, wind, etc. And similar to games like Pokemon, each attribute also has specific weaknesses. Like ice and fire being more vital against each other, but at the same time, when using ice magic against an ice mage, that ice mage would take reduced damage.

Difficulty Settings

The Mageseekers: A League of Legends Story will have three difficulty settings.

  • Rebel: Players who just want to experience the story.
  • Chain Breaker: For Players who want to balance the story and combat.
  • King Slayer: For those who seek challenge in The Mageseeker.

After picking a difficulty, similar to newer Persona re-releases, players will be able to adjust their difficulty in-depth. They can change the enemies’ health and damage multiplier. Moreover, the player can also change Sylas’ health and damage multiplier.

Pre-Purchase Bonus

Players who pre-purchase the game will be able to get Lost Silverwing. It can be found near Sylas’ cave.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story Release Date

The Mageseeker will be released on April 18, 2023. Moreover, it will launch on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, and Nintendo Switch.

“Project Astrid” an Open World Survival Game

According to Splash Damage, Shroud and Sacriel have been involved with Project Astrid from the very start and are core development team members. Having them involved with the game gives the developers more insights into what players actually want from a game.

The partnership between Shroud, Sacriel, and Damage Splash is a bold step forward in this new era for the team. Both parties are excited to find out what awaits the game’s future. And it seems like, they’re determined to make this thing a great game for everyone to enjoy.

“This project means everything to me. Chris and I have refined a vision for what’s next in the survival genre and with Splash Damage we’re setting out to build it. We want to build the best survival game ever, and with Sacriel’s brain and Splash Damage’s team, I know we can do it.” – Mike ‘shroud’ Grzesiek

“This is a dream come true. Mike and I have been envisioning a world where we help build the game that streamers and gamers love playing. To be able to execute with a team as esteemed and experienced as Splash Damage is a privilege. In our work together to date, it is clear to us that we are truly part of the team and that we are well positioned to help bring this dream to reality.” – Chris ‘Sacriel’ Ball

For now, it is unclear how this game will stand out among the crowd. However, it could be a mixture of something similar to Rust and Escape from Tarkov. Moreover, no release date has yet been announced. So, we might have to wait until we get more information about this new survival game from Shroud, Sacriel, and Splash Damage.

Here are all the fantastic games releasing soon, in March 2023.

We witnessed some of the greatest games of this year releasing in February, but it’s just getting started. Get ready, as March 2023 will also keep you busy with some blockbuster next-gen titles.

Although not many big-budget games are releasing this month, many indie titles and AA games are coming to get us glued on our screens. The ‘big-budget’ or AAA titles that are releasing in March 2023 are going to be the most prominent names for gaming. We got RPGs, Action-Adventure, Strategy, Roguelikes, and Survival Horror. Personally for me, I am crazy excited about one of the games from the Survival Horror genre.

Among all, the best games to watch in March 2023 include Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Session: Skate Sim, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure, Bayonetta Origins, Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End and the Secret Key.

But the best of the best games releasing this March 2023 is undoubtedly Resident Evil 4 Remake, where we’ll get to re-experience Leon’s most extraordinary mission in a brand new look and, of course, The Last of Us Part 1, a complete overhaul of the PlayStation classic with next-gen graphics and mechanics of its sequel, coming to PC. Nevertheless, there’s a lot to experience in the upcoming weeks.

Hence, let’s look at all the games released in March 2023.

Here’s a list of all the games releasing in the coming month of February 2023.

January 2023 saw some great games, surprise hits, and disappointments. Of course, some of the best games of this year were released this month, even though the number of releases wasn’t too high.

But all this is about to change soon. As February 2023 is coming packed with games galore. Amazing-looking games from all genres and favorite series and franchises are coming soon to empty your pockets. AAA titles, indies, ports, and anything you can think of.

Furthermore, the best ones are Hogwarts Legacy, Tales of Symphonia Remastered, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, Digimon World: Next Order, Atelier Ryza 3, and Octopath Traveler II. Moreover, there are also a couple of VR releases for PSVR2 (also releasing next month). These include Resident Evil Village, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon: Call of the Mountain. Resident Evil and Horizon on VR would be outstanding experiences for anyone.

Among these, the ones that are looking the best and have been hyped for the last couple of months, if not years, are none other than Hogwarts Legacy, which is already looking super exciting, Atomic Heart- a mysterious shooter inspired by games like Bioshock, Prey, and Half-Life, and lastly, Like a Dragon: Ishin!, that takes the classic Yakuza gameplay, characters, and story-telling to Ancient Japan’s Edo Period.

Hence, check out all the games that come out in February 2023 and try not to burn up all your money and create an even bigger backlog. Although, we know it will be hard to resist all these incredible-looking games.
