Riot talks about the status of Snowballing and Game Time in League of Legends, as changes may be coming soon.

Plenty of new information has come out in the past few days by Riot regarding League of Legends. Riot has talked about a ton of changes coming to League of Legends soon. 2024 is going to be a huge year for League of Legends.

Preseason is getting major changes as Ranked is getting three splits now. Also, they are removing the Preseason patches in the live servers. Mythic Items are removed, as Riot will do an alternative for the system.

With that said, Riot has talked about certain things in the game thus far. Snowballing and Game Time were part of this article. Riot talks about the current state of both these topics and what they will do in the future. Here is what we know so far.

Riot Talks Snowballing and Game Time

Riot talks about both these aspects of League of Legends in great detail. They divide up the topics into Elite play vs. Regular play so you can understand the perspective they are coming from.

Snowballing

In terms of Snowballing, Riot is happy with it in Regular Play. Average Solo Queue games have done a good job at keeping Snowballing balanced, with Bounties being available as well. The game is very back and forth, so Riot is fairly happy with it so far.

For Elite play, Riot has some concerns. Particularly in Pro Play, it is apparent that teams can Snowball too hard. A lot of it is due to how Objectives like Turret Plates, Dragons, etc., function. While a lot of power was given to Objectives, they skewed Snowballing in Elite play.

On the laning end of things, everything is balanced. It seems that players cannot run away with their advantage if they play carelessly. So, things look good in Riot’s eyes in this case at the moment.

Game Time

Riot is pretty happy with the length of games at the moment. Laning and mid to late-game stages are of similar length. Regular play Game Times are slightly longer, while Elite play Game Times have remained consistent for a few years.

Future Changes

In terms of Future Changes to both Game Time and Snowballing, Riot had a fair bit to say. For Game Time, Riot does not want to do too much. However, they are planning changes for Snowballing to reduce the effect of it in Elite play.

This will have some impact on Game Time, but Riot believes it is worth the risk. As for changes, they are looking at changes to jungle impact, early death impact, and decreasing rewards for early game objectives. That could mean nerfing, ganking junglers, and reducing turret plate gold and such. They aim to make changes for both after Worlds 2023.

It is an interesting topic for Riot to talk about, as they want to be as transparent as they can. These insights inform players as to how Riot looks at things and what they want to change. While many players will not agree with their thought process, at least Riot is being forthcoming with it.

As Riot themselves said, these changes will mostly affect Pro play, and they know many players are not interested in it. However, Riot also said they want to strike a balance, and hopefully, they can achieve it. That way, they can make most players happy, and that will be a good day at the office.

After Riot announced a massive schedule change, LP Changes are coming to Ranked 2024 as well.

Riot has gone into a spree of talking about the Preseason. 2024 is going to be a year of a ton of changes for League of Legends. Mythic Items are getting removed, the Preseason period in the game is being eliminated, and more.

The biggest change was the announcement of Ranked all year round. Now, League of Legends will have three splits of Ranked starting from January and continuing the entire year. This changes how Riot does changes, preseason, and such.

More Ranked splits mean more rewards but also problems to climb. Riot has already made changes to placement games and removed promotion games in Ranked. While those may still stay in, three splits mean there’s an LP deficit to account for.

Thus, Riot devs have gone to Twitter to talk about Ranked in 2024, which will include some pretty big LP changes. Here is what we know so far.

Ranked LP Changes

There are a few Riot devs that talked about the future Ranked changes coming. The first one coming for Riot Iksar, one of the new Riot devs.

In this comment, Riot Iksar iterates that they will adjust the amount of time needed to get you your “real” rank. Also, part of the reason Ranked has three splits is to make it easier to do full-balance changes without upsetting the apple cart.

Riot Iksar followed up the previous comment with the fact that Riot will keep monitoring LP changes over the course of the year.

Negative LP States are also an issue, as Riot Iksar talked about Riot doing some work on it. So Riot is doing a fair bit of work for LP changes. Riot BarackProbama also commented on the topic of LP changes.

This one is pretty much as Riot plans to make similar changes as in Ranked 2023. We should see more LP gains, fewer placement matches, and more use of a soft reset. However, Riot BarackProbama did not rule out other changes that fall into the same vein.

The community is divided on these changes, so we will have to see how Riot handles this. It is definitely a ground-breaking change for sure. Let’s see how Riot makes these changes and how the players take it.

League of Legends is getting its latest champion, Briar, out soon in Patch 13.18.

Naafiri came out a few patches back in League of Legends as Riot is preparing for another release. Briar is set to come out in Patch 13.18, as we will be getting a new jungler in the game. It was mentioned a long time back that Briar would be a “hangry jungler.”

Since then, we have had quite a few teasers for Briar. A lot of the content has been leaked, including the in-game teasers Riot prepared. Riot has also said that Briar will not be available for Worlds 2023.

Now, Riot is set to release Briar soon, and there are rumors that she will also get a Street Demon skin. With all that said, here is what we know about Briar as Riot revealed the champion.

Gameplay

Briar Abilities

The abilities have been officially revealed in this article. Here they are as follows.

Passive – Crimson Curse

Briar has no base health regeneration, and her abilities cost health to cast. Instead, she heals based on Missing Health and deals stacking bleed damage (physical) to enemies. A portion of that pre-mitigation damage heals Briar. Also, healing is increased based on Missing Health.

Q – Head Rush

It will be a jumping ability similar to Viego, except it will shred Armor from the target. This can target any unit but prioritizes champions. She can stop prioritizing champions if she casts her Q on a minion or monster while in Blood Frenzy.

W – Blood Frenzy/Snack Attack

Blood Frenzy

The first activation of Briar’s W leaps her to a location and taunts herself to the nearest enemy that prioritizes champions for a brief time. She gains bonus Movement and Attack Speed and also deals splash physical damage around her target.

Snack Attack

Briar can recast her W to do Snack Attack, where she empowers her next attack. The next attack deals Missing Health damage and heals Briar for a large percentage of said damage dealt.

E – Chilling Scream

Briar drops Blood Frenzy and starts channeling a line ability. During charging, she gains damage reduction and restores health.

After Charging, she uses a line AoE where she deals damage based on the amount of time spent channeling the ability. She also applies slows to enemies hit. If she fully charges her E, she instead deals the maximum damage, knocks back enemies, and stuns them if they hit a wall.

R – Certain Death

Briar kicks a line ability (global range) at a target and marks the enemy. She then dashes into the enemy, dealing damage and fearing every other enemy around the target. After this, she enters an Empowered Frenzy and will be in such a state until she or her target dies. She gains Armor, Magic Resist, and additional Movement Speed during the Empowered Frenzy.

Zyra is getting another new skin in 2023 in the Street Demon Skin Line.

One of the most popular champions in League of Legends is Zyra. Her identity as a champion who deals with plants makes her pretty unique, even though Maokai and Ivern are part of the game. She can spawn plants and create havoc in games.

Players are naturally drawn to champion themes like hers, and it shows in the popularity list. She has recently become more popular. Thus, Riot decided to give her a new skin called Mythmaker Zyra. However, because of the sheer popularity of the champion, Riot has decided to give her a 2nd one this year.

Thus, we get the Street Demon skin line, which boasts demon-like characters being street artists. In Zyra’s case, she has this infernal type look about her in this skin line and creates art similar to that. All of her abilities are blue in color and have a creepy vibe about them. It definitely fits the champion theme to a tee.

With that said, here is the splash art, release date, and price for Street Demon Zyra.

Brand is getting a new skin in the recently revealed Street Demon skin line.

As far as skins go, Brand has quite a number of them in League of Legends. Boasting quite a number of skins, most of them are still fairly old. Despite being old, skins like Zombie Brand are a classic as a Legendary skin.

Also, the last skin Brand received was the Debonair Brand skin, which came with a Prestige version. That was back in 2021, so it has been a while since Brand last received a skin.

So Brand players are delighted to see the news that the champion is receiving a new skin after quite a long time. Brand is set to receive a new skin in the Street Demon skin line.

This skin has some nice features as Brand is portrayed as a street painter. His abilities fit the theme and represent a light green color. All the sound effects and visual effects perfectly fit the concept of the skin line.

Overall, this looks like a nice and pleasantly wacky skin. Here is the splash art, price and when you can get this skin in-game.

With no real showing of the Blue Essence Emporium, we answer whether it will return this year.

The Essence Emporium was a bi-yearly shop that rewarded players for accumulating Blue Essence in League of Legends throughout the year. This used to happen in the middle of the year (June or July) and the end of the year (December).

Players used to store up their excess Blue Essence and use all of it when the Essence Emporium opened up. Every match played in League of Legends rewards Blue Essence in different amounts. So, in a long span of time, you can acquire quite a number of Blue Essence.

The Essence Emporium is the only outlet for Blue Essence after you are done buying all the champions and rune pages you need. However, the last Essence Emporium ended a while back, and we have not seen the return of it. So let’s talk about the Essence Emporium and when we can hope to get it again.

Read More: A New Skin Tier Has Allegedly Been Leaked For League of Legends

What Is The Essence Emporium?

To recap, the Essence Emporium is a bi-yearly shop that players can get into to spend their Blue Essence for rewards. The rewards can range from chromas to skins.

Rewards of the Essence Emporium

The rewards vary from time to time for the Essence Emporium. So, to give an idea of what the rewards can be, here are the rewards that were available in the previous Essence Emporium.

  • Certain Partner Program Chromas (10000 Blue Essence).
  • But Why? Partner Program Emote (25000 Blue Essence).
  • Mystery Icon (1500 Blue Essence).
  • Chromas (released between July and December of any year) (1000-2000 Blue Essence).
  • Mystery Exclusive Icon (2500 Blue Essence).
    • Bandle City, Bilgewater, Demacia & Freljord, Ionia, Noxus, Piltover & Zaun, and Runeterra icons are on that list.
  • Baron Hat Poro Exclusive Icon (4000 Blue Essence).
  • Mystery Ward Skin (4900 Blue Essence).
  • Exclusive Essence Collector Ward Skin (6000 Blue Essence).
  • Exclusive Make it Rain Emote (50000 Blue Essence).
  • Exclusive Money Bags Emote (75000 Blue Essence).
  • Urfwick (150000 Blue Essence).
  • 50% off on Summoner Name Change Ticket, Experience Boosts, and Rune Pages.

Why Did Riot Put The Essence Emporium On Hiatus?

As mentioned, the last Essence Emporium was from June 28th, 2022, to July 12th, 2022. That was during Patch 12.12, and in a store update, Riot explained why Essence Emporium was going into hiatus.

According to Riot, deploying the Essence Emporium took way too much work, delaying events, missions, and others.

So, Riot went back to the drawing board to reinvent the Essence Emporium and make it more efficient. Three Gemstones were rewarded to regular players for this hiatus. It has been quite a while since that hiatus started, and we have had no significant update until recently.

Will The Blue Essence Emporium Return?

Since announcing the hiatus, the Essence Emporium has not been mentioned by Riot at all. However, as Riot has recently started to be more transparent with what they are working on, two Rioters have given a small update on the Essence Emporium’s return in 2023.

The first was by Riot Sakaar, Community Manager for League of Legends. In a tweet, he asked what sort of information players want, and the Essence Emporium was asked about. To that, Riot Sakaar replied by saying that an update is “due” for the Essence Emporium. That is a positive sign of Riot working on the Essence Emporium.

Riot Meddler was the next person to reply on Reddit.

Riot Meddler replied by saying that he can’t say too much, but something is in the works. Also, Riot Meddler mentioned that this topic would feature in a future video. So, with that said, we are not quite sure if and when the Essence Emporium will return in 2023. However, we will post updates if Riot divulges more information.

New Update on Blue Essence Emporium 2023

Riot has finally shared some additional details on the return of Blue Essence Emporium in 2023. In the latest dev blog, Riot said they have “revamped” the tech that supports it.

And if everything goes well, Riot will aim to release the Blue Essence Emporium this Summer of 2023, though it is still not guaranteed.

Moreover, Riot also confirmed that the new edition of Essence Emporium would be “pretty similar to how it was before.” Still, it will function a bit differently so that Riot can bring even more changes in the future.

June Update on the Essence Emporium

After a couple of months of speculation, Riot Meddler provided another update about the Essence Emporium. He mentioned that the July Dev Update video will talk about it more. This indicates the Essence Emporium is still being worked on, and we won’t see it before August or September.

So hold on to your Blue Essence and wait for the official update Riot will be releasing in July about the Essence Emporium.

July Update on The Essence Emporium

As per Riot, the Blue Essence Emporium will be returning in Patch 13.17. The latest dev update mentioned that Riot had done some work on the system, making some back-end improvements. Thus, expect the Essence Emporium to launch in Patch 13.17 on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Furthermore, there will be a Mass Disenchant button to gather all the Blue Essence in one go. So gear up for the end of August and redeem all the stuff the Essence Emporium will have to offer.

Essence Emporium Coming in Patch 13.17

Since the last update, the Essence Emporium is set to return in Patch 13.17 on September 6, 2023. To learn more about what you can get in this Essence Emporium store, go to this link where we have all of it compiled.

Essence Emporium 2023 is coming in Patch 13.17 as we are getting more information.

Usually, we get the Essence Emporium around the midseason of League of Legends. This features a whole bunch of chromas and goodies so that players can buy them with Blue Essence.

For most of the seasoned and long-time players, they tend to have quite of bit of Blue Essence saved up. So, this shop allows players an opportunity to spend their Blue Essence and get some stuff in return. There is quite a bit of Blue Essence stored up for people due to them halting the Emporium for a bit.

In 2022, Riot decided to halt the Essence Emporium due to some issues. However, earlier this year, they decided to bring it back after doing some backend upgrades. Here is what we know about the new Essence Emporium in 2023.

What Is The Blue Essence Emporium?

The Blue Essence Emporium is a store that appears about once or twice a year. That store offers Icons, Chromas, etc. All of it costs a differing amount of Blue Essence, and the selection changes every time the store rolls around.

Riot decided to pause the Essence Emporium for a while due to technical issues. It was hard for Riot to maintain it on the backend, so they decided to postpone it. In further updates this year, Riot mentioned that it’s coming back on Patch 13.17, and we are just a few weeks away from that point.

This happened after Riot made some backend adjustments. This made them go forward with it again. This time, it’s coming with some new items in the store.

LoL Essence Emporium Start and End Dates

The Blue Essence Emporium 2023 will start on September 6, 2023, at 8 pm UTC. As for when it ends, it will be open until September 20, 2023, at 8 pm UTC.

Riot has unveiled yet another new thematic called Street Demon for Patch 13.18 in 2023.

League of Legends has seen a lot of new thematics in 2024. These skin lines have increased the variety of different types of skin lines in the game. Some of the new ones that have been released are the Broken Covenant, Faerie Court, etc.

There were also skin thematics that were tied to events like the Inkshadow and Soul Fighter skins. We expect the same trend to continue for Worlds 2023 and possibly even for the return of Arena and Nexus Blitz.

For Patch 13.18, we are going to get a new theme called Street Demon. From the looks of it, the skins look like a blend of Street Artists and a Demonic look. All the characters look like demons and all of their effects and recalls resemble spray paints. It is an interesting blend and one that looks enticing at a general level.

There are many skins coming for this release, also potentially one for Briar, the latest champion coming soon to League of Legends. Let’s jump right into it.

The next Crystalis Motus skin has been revealed as the brand new Taliyah skin has been revealed.

As a new PBE starts to roll in, we get new skins revealed in League of Legends. In 2022, Riot started doing a special type of skin line called the Mythic line. Last year, we had the Ashen Mythic skin line, which was a huge success.

For this year, we are getting the Crystalis Motus skin line. Leona was the first champion to receive a skin for it. Riot had also revealed the champions that are set to receive a skin in Crystalis Motus.

Thus, Taliyah is set to receive a new skin as Riot has unveiled the new skin. Crystalis Motus Taliyah has an interesting color scheme going with her looks and outfit, being a combination of turquoise and dark brown. Her abilities are blue in color with the sound effects of crystals shattering.

Some of her abilities include a good blend of colors that go from turquoise to obsidian in color. Overall, the skin looks really nice and fits the Mythic category. With that said, here is what we know of the skin thus far.
