Hogwarts Legacy has different options for you to combat with. So you can make various builds. Here are five of our favorites in the game.
Hogwarts Legacy is the re-creation of Harry Potter’s wizarding world in a video game setting. The game takes inspiration from the movies and books to create the perfect Hogwarts and its surrounding area. Aside from the area, Hogwarts Legacy focuses on giving the player an experience of how it is being a student of Hogwarts. In the game, you will learn new spells in class and use them in the open world.
Being an RPG, Hogwarts Legacy gives players many different ways to play the game. But since it is a first and foremost wizarding world game, magic will always be in the centre of combat. Nevertheless, the game does have room for creative builds and a good arsenal of crafting/consumable weapons. So here are five of our favorite builds in Hogwarts Legacy.

5 Best Builds in Hogwarts Legacy
Hogwarts Legacy has a big collection of customization and a decent number of spells to learn and use. The spells are mainly categorized into two different talent trees. Other than that, they are color-coded to match different shield types the enemy throws at you. By mixing and matching all that, you can make different kinds of builds. Here are five of the best builds you can use in your game.
5. The Control Master
This build focuses on displaying control over your enemy. So we will use most of the control spells in the game. Then you can either slip in a few damage spells or go full-on control master using basic attack only. Either way, this is the most simple way to build a character in Hogwarts Legacy.
These are the spells you will need-
- Levioso
- Accio
- Expelliarmus
- Depulso
- Glacius
- Flipendo
Along with these spells, you will need to unlock Ancient Magic Throw Expertise from the talent tree. As for the other talents, you can put your points into upgrading each spell listed here. We don’t have any unforgivable curse in the list since it is meant to be a good wizard build. But you can definitely include Emperio in the mix, as it controls an enemy to attack others.
4. The Death Eater
Death Eaters are the group led by Lord Voldemort in the movies. They will use any spells and methods to get things done. We can make a build around them, and it is pretty fun. It contains all three unforgivable curses and some other support and damage spells to mix things up. These are the spells you need for this build.
- Crucio
- Imperio
- Avada Kedavra
- Flipendo
- Diffindo
- Incendio
- Accio
- Arresto Momentum
- Transformation
We will focus on the tree of the dark arts for the talent tree more than anything. Of course, we will need some basic core talents like Ancient Magic Throw Expertise, Basic Cast Mastery, and Spell Knowledge. Then will max out the dark arts tree as we progress through the game. You can get some points into the spell tree if you want, but since this build focuses on being a Dark Wizard, the dark arts tree is the most important thing to have.
3. The Plant Master
If you couldn’t tell by the name, this build focuses on using different kinds of plants. Plants in Hogwarts Legacy can be used to craft different consumable items. On top of that, you can also use some plants directly for combat. This build relies heavily on these plants, so that you will need a steady supply of them. So we need a bit of preparation before we are comfortable with this playstyle.
To start with this build, you will need to unlock the Room of Requirement. Follow the main quest to unlock it. Then go to Hogsmeade and buy a Large pot table and T-shaped potion stand. And while you are on it, buy all kinds of seeds from the seed vendor. Now, return to the room of requirement and use the items to set up a steady supply of plants.
You can use any spell for this build, but we recommend you have one of all three types of spells in your spell slot. So a combination of Levioso, Desenco, and Incendio will work great in the build. As for the talents, we will max you the Room of Requirement tree. The rest can go to the core or even the spell tree depending on what you are using.
For this build, we will rely on consumables for the most part. So any plant that can deal damage to enemies is a must-have. Mandrake can stun enemies, but you can skip it since it doesn’t damage. You will also have to brew different potions to make the encounters easier while using plants to fight.
2. Stealth Master
Stealth in Hogwarts Legacy is an overlooked mechanic. This mechanic is used in different missions, but other than that, people don’t use it that much. The main reason is that players want to engage in spell combat and don’t want to sneak around. However, you can make a whole stealth build in the game if you want to. The stealth in Hogwarts Legacy can be a very powerful tool.
The stealth build is very simple. All you have to do is complete the main quest until you learn the Disillusionment charm. Then you are set to the build. However, this doesn’t become powerful until you invest some points into the talent tree. At max investment, it can be so powerful that you will wipe out the whole camp without anyone even noticing.
Since stealth has its own tree, it is a no-brainer that we must max it out. This tree has some powerful talents like area of effect takedown and decreasing detection range. Once you are done investing in this tree, move on to the core and spell tree for the time when you get caught and have to fight the enemies head-on.
1. Counter Master
Shielding is one of the basic elements of Hogwarts Legacy. You will learn it early in the game as it is a part of core combat. But you can also counter after a block. This makes the enemy stunned for a brief time. While they are stunned, they take additional damage from the spells. So you can make a whole build around it.
Countering sues the spell Stupify. This is a powerful spell, as it can break throw all types of shields. So you can have all damage spells in your spell slot and still come out on top in an encounter. This is what makes this build so good. The talents required for this build are,
- Spell Knowledge I
- Basic Cast Mastery
- Protego Absorption
- Protego Expertise
- Stupefy Expertise
- Protego Mastery
Having these talents will make your shield and counter a lot stronger than before. We will get an extra spell set for emergencies. If you miss a counter or find an enemy that needs the coordinate colored spell to beat, we will swap to your 2nd spell set to use the proper spell. The first spell set will have a lot of damage options to dish out maximum damage onto the enemies.
