Resident Evil Mercenaries mode has the option to play four different characters. However, you will need to unlock them first. Here is how you can do it.

Mercenaries mode was one of the alternative modes of the original Resident Evil 4. Since then, the mode has made a return in RE Village. But the RE 4 remake didn’t arrive with the mode. Rather, a DLC update has added this mode to the main game.

The DLC update brings many changes to the game, mainly related to the mode. There are new things to unlock after this update, and some old weapons get an alternative way to be unlocked through this mode.

In the Mercenaries mode, you will choose a character to play with. By far, the most important unlock for this mode is the “Characters.” The mode comes with four different characters for you to choose and play with. But the catch is you will need to unlock them first. So here we will tell you how exactly you can unlock all the characters in RE 4 Mercenaries mode.

Read More: How to Unlock Professional Mode RE4 Remake

Unlocking All Characters in Mercenaries Mode

As we have said, this mode has four different characters: Leon, Luis, Krauser, and Hunk. You need to unlock one character at a time, but Leon comes unlocked with the mode. It is possible to unlock the last three with three different matches. To unlock these characters, you need to do the following:

  • Luis Sera: Unlocks after getting A-rank with Leon
  • Jack Krauser: Unlocks after getting A-rank with Luis
  • Hunk: Unlocks after getting A-rank with Krauser

While unlocking the characters, you can play on any maps you want. As long as you are playing the right character and getting the required score, the next character will unlock after the match. And in case you are wondering how the score works with rank, here is a list of it to make sure you have the required score:

  • C – 0 to 49,9999 points
  • B – 50,000 to 99,9999 points
  • A – 100,000 to 199,99 points
  • S – 200,000 to 499,999 points

As long as you are playing moderately well, getting an A rank in this game mode is not much of a problem. If you want to get to 100,000 faster, you can rely on the combo to get there. Each character has a certain loadout and excels at certain tasks. So make sure to check each one out to find your favorite Mercenaries character in the game.

You will face these lasers in Chapter 13 and Chapter 15. Follow the ways below to skip Automatic Turret lasers:

Chapter 13

Once Brute runs towards you, the Automatic Turret Lasers will shoot at Brute, and you will be saved from both.

Chapter 15

Just like in Chapter 13, you will find another enemy, Novistador. You must run again across the stairs, look for the laser sockets, and be cautious. It would be best to move behind and always watch Novistador so that the Laser can attack the enemy when it approaches you.

You can skip the Farm if you don’t want to fight the enemies there in Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Chapter 1. This guide will show you how to Skip the Farm.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is in the horror and survival genre, where you play Leon, an agent whose mission is to save Ashley from the terrifying environment. Hideous foes are waiting for you throughout the map.

In Resident Evil 4 Remake, not only do you have to save Ashley Graham from the horror of the evil enemies, but also you have to survive as well. Players must collect resources, weapons, items, and other gears to protect themselves from getting hurt and eventually decrease their Health Stats. RE4 Remake has a total of 16 Chapters, all filled with exciting actions and surprises for the players.

Players will encounter ferocious enemies who will want to attack them in the game. For example, when you visit the Village in Chapter 01, the villagers will run to you to attack you, but remember that there are some known Skips you can do in certain places, particularly Chapters in the game. When you complete the Village part, you have to go to the Farm area, but you can Skip it easily if you don’t want to go around it and get to the Barn area to open the locked gate in Chapter 01.

How to Skip the Farm

You can skip the Farm in two ways;

With Hand Grenade

You can get a Hand Grenade in the Village on a Cupboard. There you will also find a Shotgun. If you have the Grenade, throw it near the villager, and you will hear an explosion. You can get into the Barn and skip the Farm when you listen to it. You may throw the Grenade through the small window.

Without Hand Grenade

You can always use your guns if you don’t have a Grenade. But you must aim for the lock through the small window and shoot at it. When the lock gets opened, you may enter the Barn and skip the Farm.

Well, money CAN buy anything, and talking about Microtransactions in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

The classic Resident Evil 4, originally released in 2005, has been given a fresh coat of paint and modernized for a whole new generation of gamers to experience. As always, you will step into the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy, the agent tasked with rescuing the President’s daughter from a mysterious Spanish cult.

With intense combat, puzzles, and jump scares aplenty, Resident Evil 4 Remake promises to deliver the same heart-pumping action and spine-chilling thrills that fans have come to know and love. This remake promises to take the experience to new heights with enhanced graphics, improved gameplay mechanics, and additional content.

Now, talking about microtransactions, it has been in video games have become a hot topic in recent years, and Resident Evil 4 Remake is no exception. Not really too much of a surprise, however. Like many other games, Resident Evil 4 Remake includes microtransactions that allow players to purchase in-game content using real money. Let’s dive into the depth of it.

How Microtransaction Works in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Looks like Capcom has struck again with the addition of microtransactions in Resident Evil 4 Remake. It was only a matter of time before they snuck in some extra ways to spend your hard-earned cash. This time, the microtransaction will allow you to unlock exclusive weapon upgrades with a simple transaction, just like using Spinels in the game.

Capcom has recently released a free update that includes the fan-favorite game mode, The Mercenaries. In this mode, players must battle waves of enemies and rack up high scores to unlock new characters and stages. However, the update also brought some controversial microtransactions to the game. Looks like they’re really taking the “evil” part of Resident Evil to heart.

Microtransaction Resident Evil 4 Remake
How Microtransaction Works in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

Players can now purchase upgrade tickets for their in-game weapons. You can use these to bypass the need to level up a weapon’s stats to earn an exclusive upgrade. These tickets can be bought with the collectible currency Spinels, which players can earn by completing missions called requests. Alternatively, players can simply pay $2.99 for an instant upgrade ticket.

There are six unique upgrade ticket options and two bundles that offer all of them at a discounted price. While these microtransactions are not necessary to complete the game, they can certainly make it easier for players to achieve a high rank and complete the game on Professional difficulty. These tickets are:

  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (A)
  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (B)
  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (C)
  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (D)
  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (E)
  • Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket (F)

For players who want to buy all three tickets in a bundle, two options are available: Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket Bundle (A, B, and C) and Weapon Exclusive Upgrade Ticket Bundle (D, E, and F). Each bundle is priced at $6.99, which is slightly cheaper than buying each ticket individually.

How Important is Microtransaction in Resident Evil 4 Remake?

While these microtransactions are not necessary to complete the game, they can be helpful for players who are trying to achieve high ranks or complete the game on Professional difficulty.

It’s important to note that this is not the first time Capcom has included microtransactions in their games. In the past, they have faced criticism for implementing these in games such as Dead Rising 4 and Street Fighter V.

Some fans argue that these transactions go against the spirit of the games and give an unfair advantage to those who are willing to pay. However, others argue that it is simply an optional feature for players who want to enhance their gaming experience.

Despite this controversy, the remake of Resident Evil 4 has received mostly positive reviews, with fans praising the updated graphics and gameplay mechanics. It remains to be seen how the addition of microtransactions will affect the overall gaming experience.

Getting S+ rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake is a difficult task, to say the least. But it isn’t impossible. Here are some tricks you need to know to S+ Rank the game.

Resident Evil 4 Remake brings back the rating system from its older version. Based on how long you took to beat the game and how efficient you were, it will give you a rank when you complete the game with different difficulties. Regardless of the difficulty, the criteria on which the grading is done are similar across the game.

There are several factors that go into grading a playthrough. After completing a playthrough, you will be able to see the number of saves, time spent, and the total number of playthroughs. Additionally, each chapter shows you how many death you have had in that chapter and how long it took to beat it. Keep an eye on these as they become important for getting a good grade.

Even though the game decides the grade based on save and playtime, each difficulty has its own save and time limit. So here we have broken down all the criteria you need to pass for each difficulty to get the grade you want, which in this case is S+.

Read More: How to Unlock Professional Mode RE4 Remake

S+ Rank Demands Single Sitting Play

There is a very important point you need to remember if you want to get an S+ in any difficulty. That is, you will need to play the whole game in a single sitting. For all the S+ rank challenges, there is a time limit to complete the game. And this time limit does not exceed 7 hours mark. So it’s not terribly impossible, but it’s not too easy without a break.

Not being able to continue from a save certainly makes things more difficult for the players. But there is a workaround that you can use to pause the game. While quitting and then restarting from the save to bump you down to S rank, you can pause the game timer to take a break. The game needs to be running, but the in-game timer will remain paused on the pause menu.

This way, you will be able to take breaks if necessary and still get a low enough time to achieve the S+ rank. But be careful that the in-game timer remains paused on the pause menu, not the inventory menu. So if you keep your game open too long on the inventory menu, it will become harder to get the right time to achieve the S+ rank.

Getting S+ Rank in Every Difficulty

Here is a table detailing what each difficulty asks of the player to get an S+ rank in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Difficulty SettingsS+ Rank Requirement
AssistedComplete the game in under four hours.
StandardComplete the game in under five hours.
HardcoreComplete the game in under five hours and thirty minutes.
ProfessionalComplete the game in under five hours and thirty minutes.
Additionally, Do not save more than 15 times.

Again, all these have to do it in a single sitting. That means you need to start by clicking the new game and have to finish the game before you stop. And in Professional mode, autosave is disabled. Thus, the professional mode S+ run is by far the hardest challenge the game can throw at you. You can follow these tips to make your S+ run a bit easier:

  • Skip all the skippable fights.
  • Ignore the merchant unless you need some item to complete your layout.
  • Ignore all the treasure that needs gems. The time investment is not worth it on an S+ run.
  • Use the Pause menu (Not the inventory menu) for a break.
  • Decide on an equipment layout for the run and stick to it. You will find the equipment guide for S+ run right here, detailing the Best Equipment for getting S+ Rank.

Resident Evil 4 Remake has different costumes you can unlock and use. Some of them even provide extra benefits if equipped. Here are some of the best costumes you can use in the game.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is a mostly faithful recreation of the older version of the game. In this newer version of the game, all the texture has been updated to have it at the modern standard. The old game had a lot of costumes to unlock. And the new version of the game not only keeps these but also improves these costumes.

There are some beautiful and slick-looking costumes in Resident Evil 4 Remake. If you are someone who likes to reply and try to complete different challenges of the game, costumes can add a flavor while replying to the game. But you will first have to unlock the costumes.

There are a lot of gorgeous costumes in this game to choose from. But we have our favorite, and in this, we will show you seven of the best-looking costumes in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Best Costume in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake has costumes for both Leon and Ashley. There are one or two matching outfits for both of them. But in general, Leon has the larger collection of costumes since he is the playable character for the game. That being said, here are seven of the best costume in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

7. Armor Ashley

Armor Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Credit: Capcom

This might be one of the best costumes in the game if you are considering the utility side of this costume. Armor makes it so that the enemies cannot pick up Ashley. Also, she will take reduced damage from any enemy or stray shot from your character. Overall, the utility makes it an S-tier costume, but there isn’t much going on regarding fashion. She looks like one of the Knight Armors the game throws at you, and it seems kind of out of place. So this is our last place on the list.

6. Casual Ashley

Casual Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Casual Ashley brings a whole new vibe to the game with her goth-looking costume. Compared to her original model’s sweet and innocent look, this costume changes her look completely. It doesn’t have any utility attached to the costume. Not everyone likes the emo/goth-looking costumes in the game. But if you are someone who enjoys these kinds of costumes, you will be able to appreciate this one.

5. Casual Leon

Casual Leon in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Casual Leon is the next one on our list. It is a simple-looking costume depicting Leon in a casual setting. There isn’t much to talk about it, so if you want a plain and simple costume and not an overly designed themed one, this costume will serve you well.

4. Villain Leon

Villain Leon in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Keeping with the goth look, the next costume is the villain Leon costume. This costume makes Leon look like a Devil May Cry character. You can pair this costume with Ashley’s casual costume to have a goth look for both of the characters. Other than that, it is a very cool-looking costume that we enjoy a lot.

3. Pinstripe Leon

Pinstripe Leon in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Credit: Capcom

If you like your Mafia aesthetic, you are in for a treat with this costume. Pinstripe Leon makes him look like a mafia boss in the game. With Leon’s different melee attacks, this costume gets to shine a lot in the gameplay. So this is one of our favorite costumes to use and play with in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

2. Romantic Ashley

Romantic Ashley in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Credit: Capcom

Romantic Ashley is a Shakespearean-era costume that makes Ashley look like a high-class noble. With the game’s different castle sections, this costume fits great with the environment. However, it can be an immersion breaker in the more open world and village section. If you have played the RE Village, this costume makes her look like a resident of RE Village’s castle. Overall, it is a great costume that fits the character well.

1. Romantic Leon

Romantic Leon in Resident Evil 4 Remake
Credit: Capcom

Romantic Leon costume gives me a little bit of a Dante vibe from Devil May Cry 5 combined with a Vampire aristocrat. The Dante vibe can be tracked to his hairstyle with a silver color. At the same time, Elizabeth’s ear dress makes him look like a vampire who isn’t afraid to get things done no matter the cost. Combining these two, we get a cool costume like this. This is one of our favorite costumes to play with for how Leon looks in these clothes.

Resident Evil 4 adds the popular Mercenaries Mode to the game as DLC for everyone who bought the game. Here is how to unlock.

The Resident Evil franchise had different modes alongside the main story campaign. But one of its most popular modes is the Mercenaries mode. The different game has different mode and mini-games along with the main one. But we have seen the Mercenaries mode last on Resident Evil Village.

The original Resident Evil 4 had a Mercenaries mode in the game. So it was quite disappointing for some people when the remake didn’t launch with the mode. But now, Capcom has added this mode back into the game along with a few new things. So here we will tell you how you can play Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 4 Remake.

Unlocking Mercenaries Mode in Resident Evil 4 Remake

Resident Evil 4 Remake has made the Mercenaries Mode a lot more accessible. This time all you have to do to unlock this mode is download V1.04 of the game. This version adds the mode to the game. Previously, you needed to complete the main story at least once to unlock this mode. But Capcom has decided you don’t need to do that this time.

Choosing to jump into the mercenaries mode without completing the story has its good and bad sides. But if you are someone who is familiar with the original version of Resident Evil 4, you will not have any difficulty getting into it. But if you decide to play mercenaries before completing the main game, it will prompt you to play the main story after the first mercenaries match. This is because you will unlock other characters after the first match, which can spoil the game.

When you first unlock the Mercenaries mode, you’ll be able to play on the Village map with Leon. Then complete each requirement to unlock other characters and map. As for the weapon, the Hand Cannon can be unlocked without playing this game mode. But you will have to complete the Professional Difficulty main story to do it. So, unlocking the weapon through Merceranies mode is a lot easier.
