How to Enter The Arcane Tower in BG3

While exploring around Underdark, you will reach the Arcane Tower at any point in your exploration. However, getting inside this tower is not easy, as you can find two Arcane Turrets guarding the tower’s entrance. These turrets will start attacking your party member as soon as you enter their range, and each hit by these turrets can be fatal.

There are two turrets placed at the entrance of the Arcane Tower. One can be found in the courtyard, and the other can be found in the upper stairs. You will need to sneak past both of the turrets to avoid getting any damage. Make sure you are out of the range of any of these two turrets so you don’t lose much health in the process.

Sneaking past these turrets is not hard if you know how to do it properly. You will activate the turn-based mode as soon as you approach this area. So select each character in your party and repeat the same process for everyone.

Take the path on your left from the ruins and keep progressing till you reach the cliff of the stairs. From the cliff, jump on the mushroom in front of you using the jump action. All of the characters will be able to do it without any issues. Now, from the first mushroom, keep jumping until you reach the red mushroom at the end of this side.

From the red mushroom, jump to the mushroom on the opposite side, adjacent to the tower. Now, keep hopping on more mushrooms and make your way to the cliff. Head along the cliff, and soon, you will find the entrance to the Arcane Tower.

After opening the chest, you will find a book and a half-torn note inside it. After reading the note, you will find a letter from Olodan, telling Kagha to meet him in the swamps. Now, head towards the swamps to continue on your quest to expose Kagha.

Although each of the slabs has a rune placed in it, there is an empty slab that needs to be combined by collecting the Rune of the Wolf.

Just beside the statue, you will meet an NPC called Nettie. Interact with Nettie and let her know about the mindflare parasite. Nettie will then take you to the Enclaved Library. Follow Nettie to enter the Enclave Library. Inside the library, you will find Rath, who is the ruler of this location.

You can find the Rune of the Wolf in Rath. Now, there are three ways to get the Rune of the Wolf from Rath: either you can pickpocket him, you can kill him, or you can do some extra questing to save Halsin and bring him to Rath to take the Rune of the Wolf.

However, pickpocketing Rath is the easiest way. As killing him would turn everyone around the location hostile towards you. Make sure to save the game and choose a character who is good at sneaking. Pickpocket Rath and immediately get out of the Enclaved Library and come near the statue.

Now, put the Rune of the Wolf in the slab with the Empty Socket and combine it. Sequentially, combine the other slabs in the following order: Rune of the Wolf, Rune of the Eagle, Rune of the Bear, and Rune of the Elk. This will make the statue move and open a stair to the underground.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the latest open-world action RPG released by developer Larian Studios. The game incorporates the classic tales from Dungeons and Dragons while adding some of its own essence. Over the three acts of Baldur’s Gate 3, players will be required to solve numerous quests in order to finish the game. These quests include stealing items, investigating murders, or even rescuing lost people.

During the quest “Save Vanra,” players will be assigned a task to rescue a lost kid named Vanra from an evil hag. Although this quest does not have a lot of combat involved, it certainly does require a lot of skill checks and exploration. Saving Vanra is a long quest to finish. However, with the proper guide, you can finish the quest in a very short time and without any extra hassle.

How to Save Vanra in BG3

To start the Save Vanra quest, make your way to the Basilisk Gate Barracks at these coordinates (X:52, Y:15). After entering the room, you will find an NPC called Lora complaining to Blaze Liara Portyr about her daughter, Vanra, going missing. She also reports that her daughter went missing from the Blushing Mermaid by the docks. After interacting with Lora, the “Save Vanra” quest in Baldur’s Gate 3 will automatically start.

Investigate The Blushing Mermaid

Afterward, head for The Blushing Mermaid in the Lower City and head to the second floor of the building. After reaching the second floor, enter the room on your right, and you will find a character called Captain Grisly. Go towards her and interact. During your conversation, Captain Grisly will reveal that Lora has already created chaos here, for which she wants to shut Lora up.

At this point, Grisly will offer you a lot of gold to kill Lora. However, you must reject this offer. Doing so, Grisly will show her actual face and (SPOILER ALERT!) reveal that she is actually Auntie Ethel, a character you killed back in Act 1 during the Save Mayrina quest. Ethel further explains that she had abducted Vanra because you spoiled her plan by rescuing Mayrina the last time. After the end of this conversation, Auntie Ethel disappears, starting a series of fights with her crew around the bar. Finish every enemy inside and get out of the building.

Help the Hag Survivors

Head towards the east till you reach Old Garlow’s Place. Inside this location, you will find Adrielle, Jatlo, and Kled. After passing the Persuasion check, the characters will reveal that they are also fighting against the evil hag Auntie Ethel.

Adrielle continues to share that they are all the survivors of the hag’s attack. Surprisingly, she reveals that they are working to help all the victims of the hag under the leadership of a woman, Mayrina. After you recognize Mayrina, Adrielle will continue to share that the hag has hexed Mayrina and is in a bad state in a room on the second floor of Old Garlow’s Place.

After reaching the second floor, you will discover that Mayrina has been turned into a sheep. Reach the table in the left corner of the room, and you will find a note written by Mayrina. At the end of the note, she mentions some doll that has been bothering her. If you look closely, you will see three dolls in the room. Destroying all the dolls will turn Mayrina into a normal person again.

After curing Mayrina, one of the hag’s survivors, Jatlo reveals himself as a devotee of Auntie Ethel. Finish him off, and he will drop you a key to Ethel’s Lair. Now head downstairs again to meet the cured Mayrina.

After talking to Mayrina, she will send you to the safe in the corner of the room. You will find three valuable items in the safe: a tear-stained Journal, Ashes of Dried Fey flowers, and A Hunter’s Guide to Hags. After obtaining these items, you will learn how to craft the Hag’s Bane, a potion to make a hag vomit their prey. Now, press “H“ to open the Alchemy menu, and press on Grenades. Then, click on Hag’s Bane and craft the item. The materials needed for this craft can be collected from the safe.

Auntie Ethel Boss Fight

After crafting the Hag’s Bane, go back to The Blushing Mermaid. After entering the bar, immediately enter the door on your right beside Bosun Gannet. Keep continuing through the path, and you will reach a dungeon. Throughout your journey inside the dungeon, you will get attacked by several waves of enemies.

Now keep heading inside the cellar till you reach Auntie Ethel’s room. Outside the room, you can find a tripwire set for you. Make sure to disarm the trap before you proceed to enter the room. Use the key you obtained before to unlock the wooden door. Entering the room will start the final fight against Auntie Ethel.

After the fight starts, your first objective is to rescue Vanra. Because if you kill Ethel, Vanra will die with her as well. Go near Ethel and throw the Hag’s Bane to make her vomit Vanra. After this, Auntie Ethel will make two more copies of her to deceive you. However, by this time, you must know that Auntie Ethel keeps herself alive through the presence of the Blue Mushrooms around her. So take your time, and destroy all the Blue Mushrooms to kill Auntie Ethel successfully.

After killing the hag, head back to the Lower City and towards Lora’s home. You will find that Vanra has already reached her mother. After finishing your conversation with Lora, she will show her gratitude by giving you the Duelist’s Prerogative and the Amulet of Windrider as rewards.

Complete all the quests and finish the Moonrise Tower missions to get to Act 3.

Visit Baldur’s Gate Waypoint

After completing Act 2, go to the Northwest part of the map and locate the Baldur’s Gate waypoint. After you have completed everything in Moonrise Tower, follow Northwest, and you may encounter a bridge. Cross the bridge, and Act 3 will get started.

Remember, you must defeat and kill Ketheric Thorm to start Act 3. And once you do that and come to this bridge, be careful of the Githyanki army, as they can attack you without any prior notice.

Conclude All Previous Quests

While you go under the bridge and transition to Act 3, there may be a reminder of your previous unfinished quests and tasks in Act 1 and Act 2. If there are unfinished quests, players can still go back to Act 2, finish those missions, and use Act 1 waypoints to get back to Act 1 and complete any quests left there.

But once you choose to transition to Act 3, you won’t be able to go back anymore, and all the waypoints will be locked.

Choose to Side with Lorroakan

If you take sides with Lorroakan, he will take his army with you to Nightsong. She will be hurt because of your betrayal; all fight till the end against the evil Mage with Isobel. However, Nightsong will not be successful in defeating Lorroakan. And he will capture her and kill her eventually.

Once this is done, Lorroakan will give you immense rewards with 200 HP, and not only that, but he will also agree to fight along with you and your party in the campaign battle. Though it may sound alluring, it is better not to side with this evil Mage.

Choose to Side with Nightsong

The giant spider, while not being the best-looking creature in the game, is a great companion. The mobility of this companion is top-tier. It can jump long heights and can even make webs for the whole party to climb onto. Even in combat, the spider is great. It can use webs to slow down enemies and entomb one enemy to leave them out of combat. The web from the spider is flammable, so you can make some good fire combo combining these two.

2. Bear

Bear can be one of the best tanks for your party. It does tanking and has a taunt. So, you can safely dish out damage with your other party members while enemies are focused on the bear. It has okay damage, but in later levels, the bear will get the disarming attack. That way, it can disarm opponents and increase its tanking capability. So, if your team needs a strong tank for the party, the bear companion will definitely be one of the best options if you don’t want to make a dedicated tank character.

1. Raven

Raven is by far the best companion you can have in Baldur’s Gate 3. You may not be able to do everything from the start, but as your companion levels up, it will gain a lot of features to help you out in different situations. For starters, it can go ahead to scout the area without triggering any kind of trap or hazard. You can check out the area and plan accordingly how to take on a group of enemies with the raven on your side.

The raven is also good at combat. It has an attack that can rend enemies. Also, being a flying unit, it is less likely to get hit in combat. In the later level, you will gain a ranged attack called Feature Throw. This will also curse enemies if you successfully hit them.
